The country is highly mountainous and includes approximately 2,500 islands, 200 of which are inhabited. Greece ranks 11th in the world for coastline length, which spans 13,676 kilometers. Its historical heritage is rich, with 19 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and its cultural interactions throughout history have been primarily with people from the Middle East and Europe.
